When Your State Requires Mailing Your Ballot

Voters in the 20 states AR, CT, GA, ID, IL, KY, MD, MI, MN, NJ, NH, NY, OH, PA, SD, TN, TX, VA, VT, and WI (you vote in there if that is the last state where you resided in the US), require that balllots be physically returned. So you need to complete all steps of the voting process ASAP if not already.

Now since there is no airmail to the US from here, most of you will have to use a courier service — EMS, DHL, FedEx — to return your ballot now. Prices vary from around 300,000 Rph to over 800,000 Rph. For EMS, you should allow at least 2 weeks for delivery; for DHL/FedEx, 10 days.

But for swing state voters (Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Wisconsin), WE WILL PAY HALF OF YOUR DELIVERY COSTS to get your ballot back in time contact us for details..

Since a few of these states (see below) will accept ballots a few days – 2 weeks after election day, Consular mail is still (as of Oct 9) an option. But in order to have a reasonable chance of your ballot making the deadline, the Embassy must receive it at least 4 weeks prior to the your states deadline. Note that Consular mail is delivered to the US, and then handed over to USPS — thus the need for US postage (both we and the Bali Consulate have US stamps you can have — just ask) or a postage-paid envelope — and that adds to the delay and uncertainty in delivery time.

So if you vote in one of these 20 states and you do NOT YET have a ballot, we recommend that you vote NOW using the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB). Complete instuctions on how to get and complete the FWAB and return it are here.

You can contact us for help, but you need to VOTE NOW.
